action over awareness

Our curriculum is built on actionable strategies, not just awareness. We delve deep into practical techniques and exercises designed to prevent or significantly reduce the impact of stress and trauma. It’s not about if bad things will happen; it’s about when, and if you’re mentally prepared to face and transcend them.

Educate and Empower

implementation for impact

01.

EDUCATE RECRUITS

We must teach new officers how to think, not what to think. By focusing on anti-fragility from the very beginning by giving recruits exposure to the general content immediately post-academy, and embedding it into their field training exposures, we lay the groundwork for enduring mental fortitude.

02.

ON BOARD YOUR FIELD TRAINERS

Our training approach embeds an anti-fragile mindset in recruits via their Field Trainers. Similar to reviewing officer safety from call-to-call, we establish a new standard for how to think about stress using proven thought processes and frameworks that are validated for reducing the impact of negative events. This method fosters a culture where adaptability and resilience become second nature.

03.

Ongoing development

Our approach extends beyond traditional training methods. We are in the business of creating cultural change, not just one-and-done programs. We incorporate our content into our app, not just with passive videos, but with active exercises your members can access at anytime, anywhere. We also offer specialized classes targeting First Line Supervisors with our Supervisor School, we offer a Command Leadership Course, and even coaching calls to foster personalized problem-solving and program development. These are all intended to guarantee the principles are practiced every day. This holistic method ensures the anti-fragile mindset becomes a core part of departmental culture, enhancing resilience and adaptability across all levels.

The 6 Elements to Overcoming Adversity

the anti-fragility mindset

In today's world, marked by growing challenges and complexities, Dr. Prohaska’s work underscores the essential truth that adapting and growing stronger in the face of adversity isn't just beneficial; it's necessary. Her Antifragility Mindset Program offers a science-backed blueprint to mastering the art of bouncing back, proving that when we change our mindset to embrace the six elements of overcoming adversity, we're not just surviving; we're thriving.

Values

The ability to utilize what is most important to you when deciding how to act in any given situation and focus on what is important to you when overcoming challenges.

Self Regulation

The ability to change or manage one’s thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or physiology for the purpose of achieving a desired outcome.

Connection

The ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships.

Mental Flexibility

The ability to look at situations from multiple perspectives, shift ones’ thoughts or actions when presented with new information and respond to unexpected change easily.

Self Awareness

The ability to pay attention to your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to consciously know and understand your own motives and desires and how they may contribute to your reactions.

Accuracy

The ability to fairly assess the situation at hand, focus on what you can control, and take intentional action in the direction of what you can control.

“I look at my resiliency skills like a muscle that gets stronger. The more you use it, the stronger it gets, and I credit Tactical Longevity for that growth.”

Police Officer Jordan Sanders

Overland Park Police Department

This material is all encompassing from executive leadership down to the newest recruit. It doesn't matter whether you're training a recruit or you're breaking in a new commander at any rank, this program can help the supervisor/FTO teach the subordinate how to deal with the stressors of the job.

Major Ryan Miller

Overland Park Police Department

Thank you for coming to teach the topic. I feel I was able to get a lot out of it and hope to implement some of it with my time and in my personal life. I do think the entire department could benefit from the training.
